Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, is to host an exhibition that will gather more than 300 overseas investment and trade programs from June 12 to 14.

The 2015 Western China Overseas Exhibition (Chengdu) aims to build a platform for domestic and overseas exhibitors to sell and promote their programs on overseas investment, overseas property purchase, overseas study and overseas consumption.

"With the economic growth and opening up to the world, there is a growing demand in western China for overseas investment and trade; that’s why we sponsored the exhibition," said Li Shiquan, president of Chengdu Donnor Exhibition, the organizer.

The exhibition is not just about doing business. People can have a taste of international lifestyles and culture as well, Li said.

Yang Guojie, chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus, said he is looking forward to the exhibition and introducing photovoltaic companies in Sichuan to investment opportunities in the island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

"Cyprus is rich in solar energy resources, and the Cypriote government encourages the development of clean energy," he said.

Cyprus is famous for its agricultural products, including wine, olive oil and cheese. Yang said he also would like to see more Cypriot products imported into China.
