At 3:20 p.m. on July 23, the fisrt “Tangzhu Ancient Route Train” with number of Z8803 made its trip from Lhasa Train Station to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city.

"Tangzhu Ancient Route Trains" are Z8801/8802/8803/8804 passenger trains from Lhasa to Shigatse and named by Qinghai-Tibet Railway Corporation and Tibet Autonomous Regional Government. According to Wang Songping, director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Commission, the “Tangzhu Ancient Route Trains” brand will further explore the tourism markets along Qinghai-Tibet Railway and promote cooperation in tourism development between China’s Tibet and South Asian countries.

"Tangzhu Ancient Route Trains" will make two round-trip journeys daily. Passengers can purchase tickets at Qinghai-Tibet Railway Corporation ticket booths, train ticket outlets, and online.
